Who would have thought in March this year that the next 6 months would change how the Community and Community Transport in particular would need to operate for the foreseeable future. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of our clients and their carers who have suffered illness and loss during this ongoing crisis. We at Shencare are doing our best to be here for all of our service users and we are pleased that some community groups are starting to organise returns to activities. It is fair to say that, without the Government's Furlough Scheme, we would not have the resouces that we have been able to retain. To those members of the driving force that have left us we say a heartfelt"thank you" for the time that you have helped our vulnerable clients to access their services and, therefore, minimise their social exclusion and that of their carers. We believe that we are at the heart of the local community and never before has the maxim " use it or lose it" been more appropriate. We look forward to hearing from groups and individuals who would benefit from our help....

Shencare is delighted to announce that we have been successful in our application to the Department for Transport's Community Transport Minibus Fund. The Government has set aside £24 million to provide Community Transport operators with a new minibus in Round one of this funding. A stringent application process has been held to ensure that the fund will benefit the local community that we serve. The RT. HON. Patrick McLoughlin, Secretary of State for Transport said " These providers lie at the heart of the communities that they serve - getting people to hospitals, towns and shops and supporting groups like Guides and Scouts. They are particularly important in rural and isolated areas, helping people to get around and participate in local life." We have taken delivery of our new wheelchair accessible Mercedes Sprinter that has been fully adapted for our clients needs.  Initial reaction from our service users and drivers has been extremely positive.        ...

Trustees are pleased to record their appreciation of the very hard work done by staff and volunteers in gaining this prestigious award. Clients will have confidence in being part of a professional organisation....

On November 21 2008, Shencare received an award presented by the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Randall Brew, on behalf of Community Network South West. This award was made following Shencare's active participation in assisting people retrain for work as a consequence of the Longbridge car plant closure and, at the same time, see its community base grow with additional community groups and individuals benefiting from the increased accessible transport provision....
