Chris Busst – Business Development Manager
Chris has lifetime experience in the passenger transport world. In 17 years with West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive Chris held positions of Conductor, Driver,Inspector, District Inspector,Operating Superintendent and Deputy Operating Manager. It was in this latter role that he was part of the management team taking the operations from public to private ownership with National Express in 1986. Chris moved on to Birmingham City Council where he had responsibilty for the Social Services fleet and this introduced him to the world of “Accessible” transport and specialising in bespoke transport needs of people with disabilities. In 1998 Birmingham hosted the International Paralympic Committee’s World Athletic Championships. Chris wrote and successfully implemented the transport model for 1700 athletes, officials and dignatories. Whilst at the Council Chris became involved with Community Transport Birmingham and chaired the Local Partnership Panel thereby ensuring that the views of the service users were incorporated into service delivery. In 2001 Chris was appointed Head of Patient Transport Services with West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust and had responsibility for winning contracts at hospitals and health providers in competition with other ambulance services and private operators. On taking early retirement in 2007 Chris was invited to take charge of Shencare . In the following years Shencare has gone from strength to strength. The secret being a policy of partnership working with our Third Sector colleagues. Chris has now moved to work in a Business Development role.
